Healthy Pets – Simple Things To Make Your Pet Healthier

Today many pet owners are experiencing health problems with their pets like they have never seen before.

Cancer, diabetes, heart disease, allergies and other serious illnesses are becoming the norm rather than the healthy pets we used to see in the past.

These are four contributing factors to poor health in pets that you can gain some control over:

  •  Poor Diet

Highly processed, un-fresh, low-quality, unnatural commercial pet food is a major reason for unhealthy pets and high veterinarian bills.

Often we pet lovers feed our pets the same unhealthy food day in and day out.

Deficiencies, imbalances, and malnutrition develop. This leads to a breakdown of resistance to disease and thus the loss of the ability to cope with environmental stresses of any kind.

We’ve been through a pet food poison crisis recently and although many of those pet foods were taken off the market we still don’t know when the next crisis will hit. Let’s face it, in the name of profit at any time a pet food company could make a shortcut that will kill your pet. It might not be intentional but it’s lurking just around the corner.

If you make your own dog food or feed your dog certain pet foods with the right combination of vitamins, minerals and other necessary nutrients specifically designed for dogs then you will always know that you are giving your dog the best. You don’t have to put your faith in a company to feed your dog or cat the right things. This is one thing you DO have control over.

  • Vaccinations

Over vaccination. Our pets are routinely injected with a broadside of powerful, multiple vaccines and then re-vaccinated unnecessarily. This undermines rather than protects health. Many veterinarians are now open to 3 year vaccinations rather than yearly. And, yet a better way to help your pets is by asking your pets to do titers. These are blood tests that will tell you whether or not your pet has enough vaccine in his or her system to provide ongoing protection.

  • Pollution

Just like us our pets are repeatedly being exposed to chemicals and toxic wastes, in the air, water and their food.

But pets are more susceptible to toxins and they take toxins in faster.

Their hair alone is a holder of toxins.

Now, air is a hard issue to address as we as humans are victims of the ever polluted air.

But water and food are two areas where we can fight back. It’s recommended that you use distilled or filtered water, or spring water and good home made pet food can help counteract the problems of environmental pollution.

  • Stress

Excercise and free space can help to eliminate stress in your dog or cat.

When animals are left alone for long periods of time or cooped up in unnatural environments like crates, or tied up they are subjected to tremendous stress.

Tying a dog up can actually create a vicious dog when the original dog was sweet and gentle.

If there is stress in your family situation your pet can pick up on the unhappiness very quickly.

Sometimes pets have been known to actually take on the disease of their owner. Pets are very sensitive and whenever you can alleviate their stress you will be helping them to strengthen their immune system and live a longer happier life.

One way to start eliminating some of the stress that your dog or cat faces is to play music. Relaxation Music For Dogs and Cats is a wonderful way to give your cat or dog some de-stressing time each day. The benefit is that it helps you to calm down and de-stress too. And when you are calm your pet is calm.
